detail. on her 59th birthday, the artist began a documentation and celebration of entering her 60’s, by wrapping treasured fabrics from her collection and attaching them to lap-sized pieces of artist canvas. one complete skein of embroidery floss was used up each day. this practice continued for 3 years, ending in 2013 on the artist’s 62nd birthday. although this project was a way of using up her stash, the 1069 skeins of floss were purchased new at the local general store in lots of 100. because we don’t know what each day will bring, judy closed her eyes when selecting the daily thread.
